Sony talks about PS3 Video Download
Full movie and TV programme downloads could be coming to the Sony PS3 earlier than expected after Peter Dille, a marketing Vice President for Sony in the United States said in an online blog.
“Many of you have been hearing rumblings about a video service that will allow you to download full-length TV shows and movies via PLAYSTATION Network for North America.”
“While I don’t have any new announcements here for the PlayStation Nation, it’s already been confirmed that we’ll be offering a video service for PS3 in a way that separates the service from others you’ve seen or used.”
“Ultimately the goal of the PLAYSTATION Network service will be to break through the overwhelming clutter of digital media to give you the TV, movies and gaming content you want.”
Play TV is expected soon which enable you to use your PS3 like a Tivo/Sky+ box to record your TV programmes, and the BBC are expected to announce an official PS3 service. Sony were apparently holding back on this, but with the release earlier this week of a ‘hacked’ version for UK PS3 users – Sony has relented on this issue.
